The Olathe Northwest track team attended the Shawnee Mission North relays this past weekend with outstanding performances from both the girls and boys athletes.
The Shawnee Mission North relays consist of basically all of the high schools in the KC metro area which makes the Northwest rankings even more impressive. The massive number of schools who attended helped the team get an idea about their rankings going onto league and state.
The girls team tied for first over all with the ladies from Lawrence High School and the boys placed 4th at the meet.
It was a great day for jumpers with the Ravens dominating the top places within their events. Audrey Fisher placed 2nd in both high jump and triple jump while Deanna Dougherty got 1st in triple jump. Brendan Watkins also placed 1st in triple jump for the boys.
Sam Thomas brought back a new school record in the 200m, which added major points helping out the boys team over all. Along with breaking the school record, Thomas finished 4th in the 100m.
Congratulations to all the trackletes who placed last weekend and good luck to all those competing at the Sunflower League at Lawrence High next Friday.
