ONW vs. Blue Valley Baseball Recap

Dirt, Sweat, and Ground Balls. That is what the Ravens were looking forward to when they were heading into the River City Baseball tournament.

The Olathe Northwest Ravens traveled to Lawrence to compete in the River City tournament. In the first game of the tournament the Ravens played against the Blue Valley Tigers.

Austin Hansen pitched for the Ravens and he squared off against Tanner Fox for the Tigers.

The Ravens drew first blood when Brooks Walker singled in the bottom of the first. Austin Hansen then came up to the plate and singled which pushed Walker home giving Hansen the RBI.

The Tigers would not being going down without a fight however in the bottom of the 5th Sean Reardon doubled of of Hansen and drove in the only run of the game for the Tigers.

In the end it was the Ravens that took the W, when Austin Hansen was walked in the top of the Sixth. Hansen then advanced to second when Saige Killion grounded out. Miles Smits drove Hansen in with a base hit giving the Ravens a go ahead run. That lead lasted the rest of the game lifting the Ravens to victory.

It was a heavily defensive battle as Austin Hansen pitched the entire game and struck out 8 batters Tanner Fox pitched just six innings where he walked three batters, struck out 8, and gave up 2 runs. Fox took the loss in the game.

"Thursday was a great day for Austin Hansen." said coach Setter

Austin Hansen continues to prove why he is the Ravens ace with this victory.

The Ravens played in the second round of the tournament on Friday where they played against Blue Springs.
