The 2015 ONW tennis team has had one of the most successful seasons in the history of ONW. On April 30th the team committed at Shawnee Mission South high school in the league tournament.
The team won league and beat Shawnee Mission East for the first time in school history.
"It was a great win, we've wanted to beat east for so long it feels good to be able to say that we were the ones who did it first," Fisher said.
SME was the sunflower league reigning championship winners for 27 year in a row.
With the ONW's two strong doubles partners with Tong/Sanders and Buyle/Boschma winning and individuals Tong, Ficke ,and Sanders placing in the top three.
"This sets the stage for us I think, I feel like we have the momentum going into our next match and then on to regionals," Said fisher.
On the 11 of May, the team competed at home in the regional tournament. Tong/Sanders made it all the way to the semi-finals but lost to BVN in a closely contested match.
The Tong/Sanders and Buyle/Boschma doubles teams qualified for the state tournament along with Taylor Ficke qualifying individualy.
The state tournament starts on May 15 and lasts until the 16th at the CBAC tennis complex.
